After reading a story in Irish about recycling, 6th Classes were inspired to take action in a creative way. As a proud Green School, we decided that each student in 6th class would design and create their own piece of clothing using recyclable materials to showcase in a Fashion Show for the whole-school.
We were given three weeks to plan, design, and complete our outfits. Using materials such as newspaper, cardboard, plastic, and other reusable items, we transformed everyday waste into imaginative fashion pieces. On the big day, our school corridors became the runway, and we proudly modelled our creations to the beat of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” while pupils lined the corridors cheering us on.
The experience was not only fun but also meaningful. It allowed us to promote recycling, express creativity, and enhance our confidence. We also learned new Irish vocabulary relating to clothing, materials, and sustainability. The Fashion Show was a fantastic way to combine learning, environmental awareness, and self-expression—all while having a blast!
