In Second Class this term, we wanted to see the different languages spoken on the 1945 corridor. We sent 2 girls around to each class on our corridor to ask the question, “What language do you speak at home?” We wrote all the languages on the board and realised there was 21 different languages spoken on our corridor. For example, Urdu, Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, Malayalam, Russian, Italian and more.
We gave 1 language to every girl in our class to translate the word ‘love’ using Google Translate on the iPads into the different languages. Teacher printed them out and gave them to us. We cut out the letters of the translated word and used them as stencils for our picture. We used different pinks and purples as it was Valentine’s Day themed Art. We used sponges and paintbrushes to make different designs. We painted around the stencils and peeled off the letters when we were finished. We were very happy with how our Art turned out. We created a wonderful display and really enjoyed learning about the 21 different languages spoken on our corridor.
